Poem

I will put into the box …
The rumbling noise of a dinosaurs rumbling stomach
The green snot of the giant ugly muddy troll
The fat rotten ugly green fruit

I will put into the box …
The bright colour yellow just like the sun
A fat bit of snow that will never melt
The drop of a raindrop from the dark clouds

I will put into the box …
The piece of gold blonde hair from Rapunzel
The velvet taste of the yummy gooey chocolate
The candy shop that has all the delicious looking candy

My box is fashioned from the diamonds found in the clear river and the gold found in the mines and the crystals that come straight from the mountains , with _pieces of magic paper that can fly into the sky_ on the lid and my darkest secret in the corners.

Its hinges are it destroy any body that tries to interact with my secret boxes.

I shall cherish and care for all the things in my box forever and ever.

This is my poem. It is about what I would put on my book. I really enjoyed doing this because it was really interesting and I had fun making up things. It was really weird reading it out loud but I like it because I am weird. It is a awkward and funny poem I hope you enjoy reading it.

Writing

Today we were learning how to find the language features using the article that our teacher gave us. I worked collaboratively with my partner June. We understood that there were nouns, verbs, adverbs and adjectives. We enjoyed working together. We have been trying to understand how other people write advertising so that when we are older we will be prepared to write a advertisement.

We have been learning about the language feature of a advertisement. I put five examples on every slide to make sure that you understand what i mean. Hopefully you can learn from what i have made and put it in your own learning.

My Speech

Good morning to all, Is this really how you want to end our world? It is making our world look like a pile of trash to be  very honest. Sometime we don’t really like the truth. We keep making unnecessary equipment. As you can see i think really strong and powerful about my topic.

f we don’t do anything about pollution it might spread or even worse.. If I were you I would try and distinct the pollution.  I feel like we have done nothing to help our earth but ruin it.

I know for a fact that china is filled with smog. It is because China create a variety of things. Such as clothes, toys and zectra and zectra. In China they have to close down schools and even  highways because of the smog.

Pollution might kill the plants and we need plants for our oxygen.. Earth is our home and we should take care of our home. I love living in Aotearoa I wish I could do something about this pollution infact i am I walk to school everyday. I try my hardest to walk everywhere but when I have to go place that are far i have to go in a car. At least I know that I am trying to make a change

Cars, there are so many cars in the world. We need to think about smog and realize that the smog didn’t appear from nowhere. We created it. Shouldn’t we get rid of it?  Knowing that people are responsible for pollution is heart-breaking.

I think if we just walk a bit more and go on trains more often we could make a huge change. I just hope that you have learnt something very important. We all need to lend a hand and help us make our world a better place.

So what we need to do is think about what we are putting in our air. I don't really want to breath in filthy air. I know you wouldn’t want to either.I hope you have thought really carefully
about pollution and who it can affect.

This is my speech. I presented it to my group. Tomorrow the finalist will be presenting to the whole class. When I presented my speech I felt scared and afraid.

Expression
Not using any expression at all in the speech. Sounds like a robot. Does not use the punctuation. Words do not flow
Using some expression for certain parts of the speech. Reverts back in sounding like a robot in some places.
Uses expression in most areas, but not all. Starting to make voice go high and low in certain parts. Starting to get into the role and use punctuation.
Uses expression throughout the speech. Making voice go high and low in all parts.
Opens mouth wide so that words flow.
Loud clear voice
Reads in a very soft voice e.g. whisper. May mumble during speech. Words / sentences are very unclear and may not be understood by the audience.
Projects voice in some parts, but may revert back to soft / mumbling voice. Not all words / sentences may not be understood by the audience.

Projects voice throughout the performance. Voice is loud and clear. Every word / sentence is understood by the audience.

Eye Contact

The performer refers to the speech / cue cards during for the entire contest. No eye contact given to the audience

The performer refers to the speech cue cards for some parts. The performer looks at the audience during some parts of the speech contest.

The reader looks at the audience and gives eye contact to the audience most of the time.

Eye contact is given throughout the contest. The performer gives eye contact to the audience during the entire speech contest.
Knowledge of the speech
Reads directly from the cue cards. Strongly relies off the cue cards during the contest. Does not know speech very well. Loses own place regularly and relies off cue cards.
Knows some parts of the speech, but is still reliant on the cue cards. Follows the text for most parts. Still reliant on cue cards to get through the contest. May lose place.
Knows most parts of the speech off by heart.
Follows the text.
Could easily perform the speech without the cue cards.
Knows the speech off by heart. Memorized the speech.
My group had to work collaboratively to chose which one i had completed. As I was nervous my expression went really wonky. But I knew how to make eye contacts thats a good sign. But then i went back wonky on my knowledge of the speech.

My Writing

I have just created an invitation to a depressed dentist. My invitation was for him to come to my birthday party. We had to use a website called Story Starters. Here is a link to the game if you want to try it out for yourselves. In my opinion I think that it was harder to do the actual drawing then the writing.

What Might’ve Have Killed Dinosaurs?
(introduction)
Dinosaurs were real before we were even born, suddenly they all disappear in thin air. Could it be a volcano eruption, a meteorite, or an Ice Age? As you know their were some dinosaurs bones left behind in the dirt. 75% of plants and animals on earth went extinct and all of the land dinosaurs were wiped off the earth. What happened? Who or What caused their extinction?
(Paragraph 1)
Dinosaurs have been roaming around 135 millions years filling every piece of land including oceans, and skies.  What is Ice Age? Ice age is when everything turns into ice including grassland and oceans opened water. A lot of dinosaurs died because of the Ice Age. 75% of plants and animals on earth went extinct.  There was a key mystery towards of what made them extinct. There was a strange object that found in layers of ash and rocks, and it found out that it was an asteroid buried beneath the ash and rocks layers.
(Paragraph 2)
We then discovered that VOLCANO’S could have caused the extinction of dinosaurs. The volcano’s erupted more than they do now.  Which means if they were near a volcano and it erupted they would've burned    down. We are counted lucky because the volcanoes don’t erupt as much anymore Sadly we can not change the fact they are extinct.  As much little kids love dinosaurs
(Paragraph 3)
Meteor disconnect when it touches oxygen. When it is in space it is in one but then it splits in the air. If it doesn’t break on the surface it brakes on something. Back in the days when there was dinosaurs it sometimes would fall on them.

(Conclusion)
This is our Information Report about How dinosaurs ended up extinct. However as we are saying that dinosaurs are extinct we are not saying all replies  are. The tuatara is not extinct.

We have been learning to create a Information report. We had 3 choices to write about 1. Is Big Foot Real? 2. Are UFO'S real? and finally How did dinosaurs end up extinct? We have chosen to do How Did Dinosaurs end up extict. Did you know meteor wiped out 75% of plants and animals species.

Blue Whale

The blue whale is a type of mammal called a cetacean and is a type of baleen whale. The scientific name for the blue whale is the Balaenoptera musculus. Blue whales are by far the biggest animals in the world. Even the biggest dinosaur that ever lived doesn't come close in size to the blue whale.
Diet
To eat, blue whales filter their food through stiff, bony, comb-like teeth called baleen plates. Their main diet is krill (small creatures that are less than 2 cm in size). A blue whale can eat up to 3,600 kilograms of krill a day during its peak consumption period. Blue whales catch their food by diving down to about 500 meters below the surface.
Habitat

Blue whales are found in open oceans from the icy waters of the extreme Southern Hemisphere to the Aleutian Islands off Alaska at the northern boundary of the Pacific Ocean. Summers are spent in polar waters because food production is higher there.
Appearance

Blue whales are simply enormous. Their heart is the size of a small car. A blue whale aorta (the main blood vessel) alone is large enough for a human to crawl through. They can weigh over 200,000 kilograms! Female blue whales are generally larger than males. Blue whales are light bluish gray on their dorsal side and mottled gray whitish on their bellies. Some have yellowish bellies.
Endangered species

The worldwide blue whale population is not known, however, blue whales are considered endangered according to the U.S. Endangered Species Act. For many years blue whales were hunted extensively for their large quantities of baleen, blubber, and meat. Although blue whales are protected, their populations show few signs of recovery.
Blue whales are large mammals that spends their time in the icy oceans.  They only eat krill and are not a threat to any other creature in the ocean.  Blue whales face the risk of extinction if humans continue to hunt them for their baleen, blubber and meat.
We have been learning to understand the structure for a information report. We needed to highlight the different kind of features different colours.

Sub: Paragraph

The submarine submerged into the sea at a subzero temperature. As the submarine was leaving the water it crashed into a subject in the water. Meanwhile the subway had just left the station and the passengers were reading subheadings and subtitles of their newspaper. The subway also had a subnetwork so that people could entertain themselves….

Today for writing we worked in a group of 4 to create a word wall and a little paragraph that has 8 prefix of sub. We had to make sure we were working collaboratively which means to work together. We were doing prefix which is when the word has the same beginning Such as SUB this is a prefix because it can begin in several words, such as Subtitle and Subheading.

Writing a Narrative - Juanita and Jessie

“Get off the road!” shouted the man in the taxi. James was on his morning jog on a busy road, not caring about what he was running into such as the cars. As he was running he turned his back and saw a man standing on the edge of the bridge wanting to jump.

As James saw the man he ran as fast as he could  trying to save the poor old man’s life, but sadly he was just an inch away too late. The Scotland Yard ran to the scene wanting to know what happened. James sprinted, thinking he would get arrested. He hopped onto a motorcycle driving fast, over the limit anyway. “What will happen to me if they think it was my fault?” he said to himself. They chased after him wanting to know why he ran..

He went home thinking that no one would ever know it was him sadly the Scotland yard   knew. He had no choice but to skip town. He said his last good bye to his family and he said I love you and went on the run. Little did his family know, that James would never return.

He left the city and his family had no idea about it. All they knew was he was being “awkward” around them. They knew something was up so they followed him. Sadly they lost his tracks and they never saw him again.

These past 2 weeks for writing we have been learning how to write an narrative using TOPES-Title,Orientation,Problem,Explain,Solution,Mood words, HCSP-Hook,Character,Setting and Problem. Our Learning Intention is to write an narrative story,my partner Jessie and I were writing about a man being innocent but he was blamed for the event.

LI; To understand a side to the provocation. We had fun experimenting with  Ifaketext. It was interesting to find out how me and June worked Collaboratively. I have learnt that there is 2 or more sides to a story which means Bias. We also learnt that the bus strike cause  a lot of harm but not intentionally. They went on strike because there bosses weren't paying the right amount of money.

We have been learning to write a narrative.
We did a quick write and then we DRAFT it. We really liked doing this because it was giving us purrsure and we really was focused.

Writing

Me and my buddy June were writing an orientation about four men running away from the bear while they were filming. We are practicing our writing skills. We had to look at the picture and get idea from the photo.
